In this session, we continue our survey of key papal teachings in the modern era with the monumental work by St. John Paul II, “The Splendor of Truth” (Veritatis Splendor).
One of the most comprehensive treatments of moral theology ever composed, the document discusses man’s ability to discern good from evil, the nature of evil, the role of human freedom and conscience, and the authority of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church in guiding persons who are seeking truth in these areas. Many theologians feel that Veritatis Splendor is the greatest work written by Pope St. John Paul II during his papacy.
Our guest presenter for the evening is Dr. Cynthia Nicolosi who has her doctorate in philosophy from Santa Croce University in Rome. She is a professor of ethics, philosophy, Great Books, and music at Regent University.
